This first one's red. Some of the colossal number of others aren't. Deal with it.

At 9pm est last night I decided it was "Alfa Time" I think today was a bit of a spill over. :)

Huh... dude, I think you broke Oppo o_o
Let this be a message to Gawker though, you know you're screwed when something is less reliable than an Alfa, haha xD

Oppositelock: Doing our best to kill Kinja.
Also, this post isn't very friendly to my internet either. It can't handle all the awesome.

OK.... what is this? I don't think I ever saw one of these before.

Yeah my hand is cramped too. Oh, scrolling... yeah. From scrolling.

I think I might have :S
To be honest, it's not all that difficult.
I think I nearly killed the internet trying to upload them all.

Hah :) I swear there was a headline proclaiming kinja to be the Italian car of the internet

I did some quick edits to the html so it didn't eat oppo. Hopefully they worked and didn't take away from the post.

God damn ... :panting heavily: ... I'll be in my bunk for the duration.

Also, the pic with the duetto hard top being passed by that Gulf 917... ungh.

It's a Junior Zagato. Same running gear as the Giulia GTV (in 1300 and 1600 guises), built on a shortened Spider chassis with lightweight bodywork from Zagato. Beautiful, but odd looking things.
I nearly bought a resto one a while back for £5k, but decided to save my money for my Spitfire 6 build. Just as well as I'd have two projects and no money to spend on them, but a shame all the same.

Still very jealous of that :)

Thanks :) It's gorgeous isn't it? I've only seen this picture of it though. No other information.
I want to say it's called the GTV Giardinetta, but I might be wrong.

Thanks :) took me long enough
My memory seems to be a bit fuzzy, did you have a GT or a GTV?

No probs :) seem to be all present and correct

I wish I had a GTV. I've got a '79 Spider 2000 Veloce. It's white and I love it. But it's been out of service for right around 3 weeks and I'm dying for a drive haha

Are you one of the lucky (read: happy but frustrated) few?
![]() 01/07/2014 at 18:40 |

Ah now I've got you. Very jealous of that too :) what's taken it off the road?
I've got a modern Alfa 156. It's a fantastic car, and I absolutely love it. Doesn't stop me looking for Alfetta saloons and GTV6s though...
![]() 01/07/2014 at 18:49 |

You drive a 156?!? Awesome! This must mean that you do not live in 'Murica. Anyway, the Alfa is getting a new starter motor, new head gaskets, the radiator repaired, a new shift boot for 5th, and the cold start system/SPICA fuel injection checked out/tuned. She really needs new paint as what's on the car now is cracking and I fear the rust is coming... I think it has the original paint...
![]() 01/07/2014 at 18:58 |
|
Correct :) I'm in the UK, which has always been a good market for Alfas. Sadly, the climate hasn't so the classic ones aren't as common as they should be.
Ah, so not a quick tune-up then :S to be honest, for the original paint to still be reasonably in-tact on an industrial unrest era Alfa is pretty good going. I would be concerned about rust though. It's not as scary as people think, but it can spread in places you don't spot until it becomes a 'car off the road' job.

Not really Alfa day, just red cars. This thread gets a bookmark though, there's so much Alfa goodness here, the gallery on my phone is about to get very full of Alfas. I'm very glad I started the red thing this morning now.

Alfa day was yesterday, but through a combination of different time zones and work I missed it. Making up for it now though :)
It's cool when something innocuous you post sets something off :)

Ah I see, either way I'm glad this got posted. And yes, I didn't expect Red Tuesday to take off but it was pretty cool to see it happen.

I'm glad I clicked this post. Amazing.

I've been watching way too much british television (tele?) lately. I really do need to visit instead of looking at it from a plane haha. Anyway, It WAS a "no rust" car when I got it because i t had been garaged it's whole life (I'm the third owner and it was absolutely babied by the first, who had an immaculate garage and also owned a slantnose 911). There were very minor traces around the boot lid when I got it but then I noticed rust colored water droplets emerging from cracks in the paint on the passengers side noor once it was on the toe truck. Now I'm quite concerned. Though having to leave it out in the rain hasn't helped.... I'm a terrible person... lol
![]() 01/08/2014 at 14:06 |

Telly if you're going native :)
The same thing's happening to our 914/6. It looks completely rust-free, but when we lifted the boot some ruddy coloured water poured out.
The plan is to get the garage up so we can put it inside to dry out for a while. Then we'll fill a spray gun with kurust. Finally, we'll give it a good waxoyl and hope for the best.

That would be the french in me coming out on the misspelling haha. I'd do the same if I had a garage. I guess the good thing about it being in the shop is that it'll have a chance to dry out. Hopefully I'll have a garage for it next winter.

No worries. Us English have trouble with spelling English :)
Garages are great, especially with the weather like it is at the moment.

Yah, I live in the PNW (by Seattle) and I feel like we get pretty similar weather as you lot.
